Custom Waste Fractions can be configured within the account so that each organisation can categorise their waste using their own desired naming conventions.
There are two main steps to follow to map emission factors to a particular emission factor:
1. Create the Waste Fraction Name and Unit conversion (from weight to volume). See Support Article HERE.
2. Map an associated emission factor to your Waste Fraction and assign a disposal method (e.g. Landfill, Recycling, Energy Recovery, etc.).
Adding emission factors for Waste Fractions in the system can be done either manually, or through excel import. See both methods detailed below:
Manual Input:
Step 1: Begin by navigating to Settings section by selecting the settings menu icon on the top right side of the screen.
Step 2: Next select the “Manage Settings” button from the dropdown list and click "Manage Waste Fractions" to the left.
Step 3: Click on "Add New" in the Emission Factors table.
Step 4: Fill in all mandatory fields, fields marked with an " * " beside it, once this is completed click "Save".
Waste Fraction: this will be one of the Waste Fraction names previously created within the Waste Fractions table.
Disposal Method: this is the method used to dispose of this particular waste.
Disposal Location: this is the location the waste is disposed at.
Calculation Method: the only option available here will be 'Waste' so please select this calculation method.
Emission Factor Sources: here you will choose the emission factor source you wish to use for your Waste Fractions, DEFRA is most commonly selected here.
Emission Factor: this will be the emission factor you wish to apply to this particular Waste Fraction mapping.
Excel Import:
Step 1: Begin by navigating to Settings section by selecting the settings menu icon on the top right side of the screen.
Step 2: Next select the “Manage Settings” button from the dropdown list and click "Manage Waste Fractions" to the left.
Step 3: Click on "Import" in the Emission Factors table.
Step 4: The below import screen will appear. Click "Select" and locate the file you wish to upload from your computer, click on this file and the file will upload.
Step 5: Click "Next", select which sheet on your excel that you wish to upload, and click "Next" again.
Step 6: Review your selection and click "Finish".
